Field of Study Requirements
Satisfactorily complete each of the following courses, which serve as prerequisites or preparatory work for your major classes. Some courses may also be used to fulfill Core IMPACTS requirements. Students who use these courses to fulfill both requirements will have more hours of general electives. Foundations in Psychology:
Satisfactorily complete the following course: Foundations in Human Understanding and Skills
Satisfactorily complete six (6) hours from the following courses: Note: Lab courses not permitted. Foundations in Science
Satisfactorily complete nine hours from the following courses. When a course has a co-requisite laboratory course, students must both courses. Required Courses
Satisfactorily complete the following courses: Psychology Elective
Satisfactorily complete one of the following courses: Foreign Language Requirement
Students must demonstrate competence in a foreign language at the level of the second university course (1002). For students who must take the 1001 and/or 1002 foreign language courses, these courses will be applied to electives and will reduce the total number of elective credits available. Senior Capstone
Satisfactorily complete the following course: Additional Degree Requirements
- A grade of C or better must be earned in all PSYC and Area F courses counted toward the major.
- All Psychology majors must complete MATH 1401 Elementary Statistics . This course is a pre-requisite for PSYC 2700 and PSYC 2800 and may be used in either Area D or Area F.
- PSYC 1101 , PSYC 2700 , and PSYC 2800 are prerequisites to all PSYC 3000 level courses.
- If a student takes a course in Area F Foundations of Science that has an accompanying lab, the lab must be taken for the course to count in Area F.
- All students will take PSYC 4920 Senior Seminar in Psychology as their Capstone requirement during their senior year.
- Students must take the Senior Exit Exam during the semester in which they graduate and pass it with a scaled score of 140 or higher. Students who do not earn at least a 140 on this exam must obtain a grade of C or higher in PSYC 4940 Independent Study .
- A minimum of 39 hours overall (i.e., not necessarily in the major) must be at the 3000-4000 level.
